The utaite-superstar addressed her Spanish-speaking fans directly on X following the release:

‘Monstruo’ reunites Ado with Giga and TeddyLoid, the production duo behind her earlier hits ‘Odo’ and ‘Show’, who composed and arranged the track. Driven by Latin-inspired rhythms, its title means “monster” in Spanish, and its shape-shifting rap flows portray the awakening of an inner monster.

The lyrics come from ryo (supercell), who reflected on the collaboration after release in a post on social media:

“Knowing that Ado would be singing it, I felt that the words could not afford to be outdone, so I wrote them while embracing the spirit of ‘Monstruo’ myself. When I heard the finished song, what came back to me was an enormous monstruo far beyond anything I had imagined.”

Set in a futuristic city, the music video follows its protagonist through a super-high-speed car chase. LAM, who also illustrated the single’s cover artwork, provided the character design. yonayona graphics planned and directed the video, which was produced by IJIGEN TOKYO, with S.o.K handling planning and executive production. According to S.o.K, the effect of the protagonist’s eyes bursting into flames was inspired by BLUE LOCK itself.

The film, based on the football manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, also features Ado’s ‘Kira’ as an insert song. Written, composed, and arranged by Tatsuya Kitani, ‘Kira’ was originally created as the adidas Japan National Team 2026 uniform song.

‘Monstruo’ is available to stream now. Ado will follow the release with the limited-production 7-inch vinyl single ‘Vivarium’ on September 2nd.
