the GazettE vocalist RUKI has been hospitalised after suddenly collapsing and losing consciousness on September 23rd.
The band’s management company, HERESY Inc., announced the news on September 24th, saying the singer had been feeling unwell before the collapse and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
RUKI remains in hospital, where he is undergoing examinations and observation. HERESY has not disclosed a diagnosis or cause, and has not said how long he is expected to stay.
“At present, RUKI is under the care of medical professionals and is focusing entirely on his recovery”, the company said, adding that further information on his condition and the band’s future activities will follow based on his progress.
Bandmates KAI and URUHA addressed fans on X after visiting RUKI in hospital. KAI said RUKI is continuing to recuperate and had told him firmly that he would “definitely return”, which KAI took as a sign of how eager the vocalist is to see fans again.
URUHA said RUKI was already talking about the GazettE in his hospital room and saying he wanted to go home. “I believe that he will definitely come back soon”, the guitarist wrote.
RUKI has fronted the visual kei band since they formed on March 10th, 2002. In March this year, guitarist AOI was removed from the line-up, with RUKI, URUHA, and KAI continuing as a three-piece.
KAI said the members would continue supporting RUKI while he focuses on treatment, telling fans, “We’ll always be by RUKI’s side, so please wait without worrying”.
