Deathcore band VICTIMOFDECEPTION unleash video for ‘ATHEiST’

Deathcore band VICTIMOFDECEPTION have unleashed the video for ‘ATHEiST’, taken from their February 2024 album ‘MIGHTY RULERS’.

A sonic onslaught, the track opens with ferocious drums before the deep, crushing guitar joins in, along with vocalist MAKITO’s gravelly screams. The song, which explores themes of rebellion against religious faith and the search for meaning through suffering and defiance, was written by guitarist JUNPEI, with lyrics penned by him and MAKITO. Notably, the lyrics are entirely in English, their translation handled by Daniel from fellow metal group The Cards I Play.

The band will play the venue AKABANE ReNY alpha’s 5th Anniversary celebration festival ‘Alpha Dope FEST’ on June 23rd. This show will see them share a stage with groups such as NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, Broken by the Scream, A Ghost of Flare, and The Cards I Play.

About VICTIMOFDECEPTION

VICTIMOFDECEPTION formed in 2013 and were hailed as one of Japan’s most promising new metal bands. Tragically, lead singer Daichi Shimoyama unexpectedly passed away in October 2017 at just 25 years old. The band went on hiatus, and held a tribute show for Daichi in February 2018. The band returned in June 2018 with new vocalist MAKITO, originally from metalcore outfit Breathe my Words. Just over a month later VICTIMOFDECEPTION released their first EP with MAKITO titled ‘Godless’. The band continued to release singles sporadically, going quiet in 2022. On February 1st 2024, the band re-emerged with the release of MIGHTY RULERS, the band’s strongest offering yet. The first single from the album, ‘UNSAINT’, features Kagami from Dexcore. In early 2024, the band supported US metalcore heavyweights Emmure on their Japan tour. The current member lineup consists of MAKITO (vo.), JUNPEI (gt.), MORBY (gt.), YUKI (ba.), and KOKI (dr.).
