ATARASHII GAKKO! drop theme song ‘Change’ for summer film release

ATARASHII GAKKO! have released their latest single, ‘Change’, the theme song for the upcoming film, ‘What If Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa Was to Become the Prime Minister’, set to hit theaters on July 26th.

‘Change’ carries a message that aligns with the film’s plot, which involves historical figures coming back to life to tackle modern-day crises in Japan. The single’s release was accompanied by a promotional video (PV) for the movie, now available on YouTube. The PV features scenes from the film, showcasing the unique personalities of the revived historical characters and highlighting the song’s catchy, addictive melody.

On July 19th, ATARASHII GAKKO! performed ‘Change’ live for the first time on TV Asahi’s ‘Music Station’ during a three-and-a-half-hour special which also included appearances from Sheena Ringo, Number_i, Snow Man, and more.

‘What If Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa Was to Become the Prime Minister’ is based on Akihito Manabe’s 2021 business novel and directed by Hideki Takeuchi. The film presents a scenario where AI technology brings back legendary figures to form an “ultimate hero cabinet” to save Japan following the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast includes Minami Hamabe, Eiji Akaso, GACKT, and Mansai Nomura.
