Following the launch of their independent label 0A and the release of their new single ‘rest / 息’, Age Factory have announced full details of their upcoming sixth studio album ‘Sono nanika in my daze’. The record will be released digitally on July 16th via 0A.
The album is the band’s second fully self-produced release, following last year’s ‘Songs’. Bassist Nishiguchi Naoto, under the name nerdwitchkomugichan, handled mixing and mastering for all ten tracks. Production was led by Age Factory, with RY0N4—producer, DJ, and member of the Nara-based collective HEAVEN—credited as co-producer and co-writer throughout. It also features collaborations with YDIZZY (kiLLa), a long-time peer of frontman Shimizu Eisuke, and fellow HEAVEN member lil soft tennis.

‘rest / 息’, released today (June 4th) as the lead single, sets the tone early in the album with a sense of emotional paralysis and steady persistence. An acoustic guitar holds the track in a sombre suspension, even as distortion creeps in. The weight of the arrangement reflects the bleakness of the lyrics, which circle around fear, avoidance, and repetition, delivered by Shimizu with his trademark strained emotional intensity.
The video, directed by Oudai Kojima, follows three characters caught in different forms of collapse: a woman trapped in an interrogation room with an unsolved Rubik’s cube, a rooftop standoff between two friends, and a salaryman running from headlights on an empty street. While none of the stories reach full resolution, each concludes with a gesture toward change.
Age Factory will support the album with a nationwide tour running from September to November. Most dates will be one-man shows, though performances at Zepp Sapporo (October 13th) and Zepp Fukuoka (October 19th) will feature guest acts in a joint format. Advance ticket reservations are available now via the band’s fan club, AGE APARTMENT, until June 15th.
