Yojiro Noda, frontman of RADWIMPS, makes his UK debut as solo project illion

[UPDATE 08.03.2013] The show will be going ahead as scheduled, but with a couple of slight changes. Organisers for the night have changed ticket agency, and four new acts have been added to the roster in the form of Carl Barat, The Rifles, Coves, and Dexters. For more information regarding the event and where to submit inquiries about already purchased tickets, check out illion’s most recent Facebook update or visit thisfeeling.co.uk.

[UPDATE 07.03.2013] Today on his official Facebook page, illion announced that his upcoming London performance at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire has been cancelled. Currently, there is no news as to why the show has been cancelled or of plans to play on another date, but we will be sure to keep you updated as we hear more.

Yojiro Noda, frontman of the internationally praised indie rock outfit RADWIMPS, will be making his way to London on March 17th for a solo performance under the name “illion”. The announcement comes after numerous hints towards the artist’s first-ever UK appearance, but still, the show is shrouded in mystery. Either way, it seems they have high hopes for the UK first-timer, booking him for a show at the prestigious O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

On January 16th, his first single “Brain Drain,” first previewed on YouTube back in December, was released on iTunes, featuring all English lyrics and a moving instrumental, incomparable to the sounds of his previous work with RADWIMPS. This gave curious fans a slight insight into what to expect from the lead man turned soloist, but not handing out much in the way of clues to what the show will entail.

Clues or not, when a musician that has found much musical success with an outstanding discography such as Noda comes to town, people should take notice! Fans of Japanese indie, or indie rock in general, should be sure to mark this date on their calendars!

Tickets for the event are now on sale for £25, and while you’re at it, you can pick up illion’s first single “Brain Drain” off iTunes for 99p!
