When you think of Japanese metalcore, chances are Crossfaith are the first band to come to mind. These UK mainstayers have, over the years, become one of the most recognised bands on the scene, and if you’re lucky enough to catch them live, it’s easy to see why.
Supporting ragga metal legends Skindred, Crossfaith blew the roof off Brixton’s O2 Academy with another destructive display of true showmanship and energy, with trademark tracks like Monolith, Countdown To Hell, and their breakout cover of Prodigy’s Omen still managing kick the crowd off into a frenzy. As well as the classics the band also showcased new songs from their latest album, including Devil Party, and Wildfire featuring Skindred frontman Benji.
2014 was a rocky year for the band when they were struck with misfortune as guitarist Takemura Kazuki suffered a brain haemorrhage which affected his left arm. Still, the band powered on to release their 4th album XENO in 2015 and a couple of weeks after their tour with Skindred the band announced that they’ll be back in the UK for a full length headline tour starting in March 2016. It seems like nothing is going to stop Crossfaith from doing what they do best, putting on an explosive performance each and every show with some of the best tunes the genre has to offer, and their last London show of the year definitely proved that.
