Making her first ever festival appearance since emerging on the scene in late 2021, Miso Extra showcased her own brand of “good vibes only” hip-hop tunes to a packed out crowd within Brighton’s seafront arches as part of this year’s Great Escape Festival.
Kicking off the set with her debut single Adventures of Tricky ‘N’ Duke, Miso’s infectious light-hearted aura set the mood for the 30 minute set as she let loose her combo of experimental DIY bedroom beats and dreamy hybrid English and Japanese vocals and rapping.
Still a newbie to the live stage, having only performed to a crowd a handful of times, Miso looked at home on center stage, riling up the crowd to get into the groove and taking in this pinnacle moment in her young career.
Her ability to effortlessly switch between flawless Japanese and English rap flows and mellow sung choruses is one of her biggest draws, a skill that was on full show tonight as she traversed the set without missing a single beat.
The chill dance bop Deep Fried got the crowd moving one last time as she launched Miso Extra sticker laden inflatable footballs into the crowd for the final send off.
With only 5 tracks to her name so far, it’s still early days for Miso Extra, but this festival appearance has served as the perfect introduction to one of the freshest up-and-coming artists of the year.
