CHAI have announced their decision to disband following the group’s upcoming Japan tour, concluding a 12-year journey.
Formed in 2012 in Nagoya, CHAI quickly gained recognition for their vibrant blend of music and fashion, embracing the NEO KAWAII aesthetic. The quartet, comprising identical twins Mana (vocals/keys) and Kana (guitar), alongside Yuna (drums) and Yuuki (bass), earned international acclaim for their energetic performances and innovative approach to the Japanese concept of cuteness.
The breakup, scheduled for the end of their farewell tour in March, signifies a collective decision to pursue individual paths and fulfil personal visions. Despite the suddenness of the announcement, CHAI expressed gratitude for the love and courage received from fans worldwide, recognizing the pivotal role supporters played in their global journey.
First of all, we want to thank everyone for all of the support you give us!
CHAI official statement
We are sad to let you know that, following our upcoming Japan tour, CHAI will eternalize NEO KAWAII (=parting ways as a band).
To continue our journey of self-love, as CHAI have always said, and to continue to fulfill our own personal visions, we have decided to go our separate ways.
We are so sorry to surprise you with this news.
CHAI would never have been able to travel the world without all of your support, and we cannot thank you enough for the love and courage you have given us.
Each of the members will continue to represent and spread NEO KAWAII in our own individual ways, so we would greatly appreciate your support in the future too.
TEN-KYUUUU so much for everything!

We will travel Japan on our last tour to give LOVE to all of our NEO KAWAII BABIES one last time, so let’s have the best time together☆

CHAI’s ‘We The CHAI Tour!’ will serve as the group’s farewell and a celebration of their career, promising to provide their NEO KAWAII BABIES with a memorable experience one last time. The tour kicks off on January 28th in Hokkaido, with the final show scheduled for March 12th in Tokyo’s Roppongi district, offering fans a final opportunity to witness CHAI’s distinctive energy live.
The disbandment of CHAI marks the end of an era, but the individual members are expected to carry the torch of NEO KAWAII into new and exciting ventures.
