ATARASHII GAKKO! join Maximum the Hormone on new single ‘Ki-Se-I Rush’

Everyone’s favourite mental metal band Maximum the Hormone are due to release their latest single ‘Ki-Se-I Rush’ on June 19th. The single will feature a second disc with re-recordings of old MTH songs along with special guests ano and ATARASHII GAKKO!.

‘Ki-Se-I Rush’ is a packed 4-track 2-disc single. The first CD features 2 versions of the track ‘INTENT TO MURDER: INTENT TO KILL -SATSUI vs SATSUI-‘; the standard MTH version, and a second version with actor Toma Ikuta, a self confessed MTH fan. It serves as the theme song for the movie adaption of popular psychological manga ‘Confession’, starring Ikuta.

The second disc, titled ‘HOSHOKU’ features 2 re-recorded tracks from Maximum the Hormone’s 2007 LP ‘Bu-ikikaesu’ – ‘SHIMI’ and ‘CHUCHU LOVELY MUNIMUNI MURAMURA PRINPRIN BORON NURURU RERORERO’. Both tracks are new arrangements in the style of MTH franchise band Coronana Moremomo who disbanded this year.

The story goes that guitarist Ryo ate the horns of Coronana Moremomo’s DJ DANGER x DEER and absorbed the band’s abilities. On top of this, the band’s site states that Ryo took AG! and ano as “supplements” to help on the re-recordings. ‘SHIMI’ features guest vocals from ano, while ‘CHUCHU’ features ATARASHII GAKKO!.

In true MTH style, the collaborations were announced through humorous videos, with a clear Dragon Ball influence. The AG! video also featured a touching memorial for Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, along with a quote from Ryo stating:

“Almost everything I do with Hormone is based on Dragon Ball. If you haven’t read the original work properly, read the whole comic!”
