TRiDENT unleash powerful new single ‘SPICE!’ featuring SSTP’s Yosh

All female 3-piece TRiDENT unleashed the new single ‘SPICE!’ on June 6th, taken from their 3rd EP ‘spice “X”‘.

‘SPICE!’ opens up with a cameo from Survive Said the Prophet frontman Yosh, whispering about “how to make a tough girl”, along with repeating the phrase “sugar and spice, and everything nice”. We’re then treated to vocalist ASAKA’s opening lyrics before the instrumentation bursts in with heavy drums, sparkling synths, and an addictive guitar lick. The track is an alt-rock romp, with surprising elements throughout, including the use of synths and horns. ‘SPICE!’ was written entirely by ASAKA, with arrangement, recording, and mixing by Satoru Hiraide, known for his work with UVERworld.

The video is directed by Seidai Takekoshi, who is part of Tokyo based DJ and creative crew LIFE is SAMPLING. Takekoshi also directed TRiDENT’s ‘Snoopy’ MV. He has previously worked with My First Story, Crossfaith, and Sable Hills, amongst many others. The video features the girls being created in a lab, Powerpuff Girls style, before breaking free and being inexplicably surrounded by mummies.
