16-year-old hitmaker tuki. announces debut album ’15’, featuring songs written before her 15th birthday

16-year-old rising singer-songwriter tuki. has announced her debut album, ’15’, a 15-track collection of songs written before she turned 15. Set for release on January 8th, 2025, the album includes her mammoth 2023 breakthrough single ‘Bansanka’ and seven previously unreleased recordings.

The tracklist will also feature hits such as ‘Ichirinka’ and ‘SAKURA KIMI WATASHI’, as well as new songs like ‘Moon Landing Plan’ and ‘Pure Love Ingot’. Two bonus tracks—alternate versions of ‘Love Expiration Date’ and ‘SAKURA KIMI WATASHI’—will be exclusive to the CD edition. The album’s cover art was created by digital artist wataboku, who has designed all of tuki.’s previous artwork.

In a message to fans released alongside the announcement, tuki. shared her thoughts on the upcoming album:

“Hi, this is tuki. I’ve made my first album, ’15’. This album is a collection of songs I made before turning 15. Since ‘Bansanka’, for which my father lent me the recording fee, I have delivered a variety of songs to everyone. This album will also include many previously unreleased songs. I’m sure the person I am today is engraved in this piece. I hope you will enjoy it.”

A limited edition of the album will include two exclusive items: an usagi-san plush toy, inspired by a recurring character in tuki.’s visuals, and the tuki. 15 Special Book. This 60-page booklet provides deeper insight into the enigmatic artist, featuring self-written liner notes, an interview with her collaborator usagi from her private label, The Lunar Landing Plan, and answers to fan-submitted questions in a segment titled ‘The Other Side of tuki.’.

tuki. gained prominence at just 13 years old by posting original songs and covers online, quickly amassing a dedicated following. Her breakout single ‘Bansanka’, released in September 2023, topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and exceeded 400 million streams. Her storytelling and deeply personal lyrics have been a hallmark of her music since she started writing songs as a teenager.

tuki. is set to perform at the 75th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen, a milestone moment that underscores her rise as one of Japan’s brightest young talents of 2024.
