Just before the start of their nationwide tour later this month, three piece alternative rock band syrup16g has suddenly announced the release of a brand-new album. With a somewhat unusual backstory to it, darc will be their second album release since their comeback.
Formed in 1993, syrup16g had their first demo released in 1998. In 2001, their first album Copy was released through indie label DAIZAWA RECORDS, who have been responsible for bands like LITE and THE NOVEMBERS. The band stopped their activities in 2008, only to return in 2014 with their eighth studio album Hurt.
Upon facing the proximity of their 2016 tour HAKAI, the members wanted to create a new song, though they weren’t sure what kind of song it would be like. However, as they casually entered the studio, an overwhelming urge to record a whole new album fell over them – And that’s how darc was born. With a total of 36 minutes and 8 tracks, all composed consecutively in a short period of time, the album is said to have a distinct raw and deep feeling to it.
Even though the band apologized for making such a sudden announcement without prior warning, the overall concept behind it definitely makes it even more intriguing.
