Visual kei group KIZU have released the music video for ‘Oni’ (‘Demon’), their 15th single since forming in 2017.
The track officially released digitally on May 13th, along with new visuals for the band. Directed by Megumi Iritani, the video features KIZU seemingly in the grips of oni, along with erratic and morbid collage style animations. The song itself is said to be depicting “life and death from a realistic perspective”.
Initially beginning as a piano ballad with vocalist LiME emphatically singing atop, the track slowly builds before erupting into a heartfelt rock ballad.
KIZU’s new look matches the vibe perfectly, with LiME donning a shimenawa– a thick rope used in Shinto to ward off evil spirits. The other members’ outfits all feature traditional kimono elements with their own individual flair.
As well as this, the band are preparing for their concert at Yoyogi National Stadium Second Gymnasium on June 1st. Tickets are selling fast for the 4000 capacity show, with all seats and VIP tickets sold out.
