Kamui YC2

Kamui successfully crowdfunds new album ‘YC2.5’ and first live show

When it comes to Japan’s underground hip-hop community, Kamui is about as underground as it gets. Now, with his fans support, he’ll be able to create the definitive version of his most ambitious record.

Nagoya born MC and producer Kamui/3-i first appeared on the scene in 2015 when he formed the rap duo TENG GANG STARR, releasing their first album Icon nationwide via record label bpm tokyo in 2018.

Only a few months later he released his first solo album Cramfree.90 on Manhattan Recordings. He went on to release 2 more albums independently, I am Special in 2019, and YC2 in 2020.

YC2, Kamui’s most ambitious and violent album to date, is a dark cyberpunk themed record that also conveys his frustration with the coronavirus pandemic, but unfortunately was never completed due to time and budget.

Earlier this month Kamui successfully crowdfunded the deluxe version of YC2 coined YC2.5 as well as his first ever one-man live show at Shibuya WWW. The campaign hit the target goal in just 5 hours and in total raised three times that in under a month.

Kamui’s new video for Shippu was directed by award winning film director Oudai Kojima, who has also directed videos for Age Factory, SCANDAL, amazarashi, Yung Kiss, and more.
