The documentary film, ‘SUNRISE TO SUNSET’, a tribute to the iconic Japanese alt-rock band Pay money To my Pain, is set to hit theatres across Japan on November 17th.
Formed nearly two decades ago on a rooftop in Mitaka, Tokyo, Pay money To my Pain gained legendary status in Japan’s rock scene. Their emotionally charged and raw music deeply resonated with young fans navigating their own challenging experiences. Their journey, marked by a major debut in 2006, faced an abrupt halt due to the sudden loss of the band’s frontman, K, in 2012. Following this tragic loss, the band decided to go on hiatus a year later.
In 2020, the band made a triumphant return for one unforgettable set at ‘BLARE FEST’, a festival hosted by Nagoya post-hardcore unit and longtime friends, coldrain. This special set saw Crossfaith members Koie and Teru, Mah from SiM, Survive Said The Prophet frontman Yosh, and more, pay tribute to K by performing vocals on some of Pay money To my Pain’s most prestigious tracks.
Releasing on the 10th anniversary of the band’s hiatus, the documentary delves deep into their influences and legacy. It will features unreleased footage, insights from the band’s remaining members, and tributes from respected artists like KJ (Dragon Ash, The Ravens) and Taka (ONE OK ROCK), among others.
‘SUNRISE TO SUNSET’ will also provide fans with an uncut experience of the entire live performance at ‘BLARE FEST’.
To celebrate the film’s release, special screenings with stage greetings from Pay money To my Pain members and the director will be held in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kanagawa, and Shinjuku.
