Yukopi, the producer behind Vocaloid viral sensation ‘Hair Swept Back By Gale-Force Winds’, unveiled their debut album, ‘ALBUM No.1′, on November 29th.
Featuring ten tracks, including hits from their YouTube channel with a collective view count nearing 100 million, the album presents a comprehensive journey through Yukopi’s musical evolution. The jacket artwork is the creation of Bukubu Okawa, renowned for the surreal comedy manga, ‘Pop Team Epic’.
Starting out in 2018 by posting remixes and covers of songs from the globally acclaimed indie game UNDERTALE, Yukopi’s trajectory took a significant turn in the spring of 2023 with the release of ‘Hair Swept Back By Gale-Force Winds’. This infectious track, characterised by a catchy rhythm, relatable lyrics, and a charming animated music video, swiftly soared to success, amassing a staggering 72 million views on YouTube.
The song’s popularity inspired numerous cover videos and parodies, including a rendition by SUSHI RAMEN, a prominent YouTube creator. Beyond topping Billboard JAPAN’s ‘Niconico VOCALOID SONGS TOP20’ and establishing records for consecutive weeks at No. 1, the track transcended the virtual space, with a parody version featuring in commercials for Nissin Cup Noodles.
