Yojiro Noda, best known as the frontman of RADWIMPS, has composed the soundtrack and theme song for the upcoming Netflix movie ‘The Parades’. Scheduled for global streaming starting February 29th, ‘The Parades’ promises to be another poignant exploration of love and loss from acclaimed director Michihito Fujii.
The storyline follows those who have passed away, providing a distinctive viewpoint on the emotions experienced by those they’ve left behind. Masami Nagasawa takes on the role of Minako, a character grappling with unresolved sentiments after her passing. Joining a monthly gathering of the deceased known as the parade, Minako and others seek out individuals from their past whom they long to reconnect with.
The film boasts a stellar cast including Kentaro Sakaguchi, Ryusei Yokohama, Nana Mori, and Lily Franky, among others.
This collaboration between Noda and Fujii marks a reunion following their successful partnership on the 2022 film ‘10 Years to Live’. Their seamless synergy allows Noda’s music to intertwine effortlessly with Fujii’s storytelling.
Noda’s theme song for ‘The Parades,’ titled ‘Nami Shigusa’, conveys a heartfelt message of hope and reunion beyond the pain of parting. A snippet of the song can be heard in the film’s trailer, released today.
Reflecting on his creative process, Noda shared:
“While composing music for this movie, I contemplated the meaning of living in this world, which can be relentlessly cruel yet unbelievably beautiful at times. I reflected on the sadness of never being able to meet again, the words left unsaid, and the reasons to carry on living with them. Though I haven’t found the answers yet, I intend to continue thinking and feeling.

When I finished watching this movie, I felt that beyond logic and science, I could believe that “We will surely meet again” beyond this life. I am grateful to have encountered this work.”
Director Michihito Fujii echoed Noda’s sentiments, stating:
“When I finished writing ‘The Parades’, the music of Noda-san was echoing in me. The musical narrative created by Noda-san in ’10 Years to Live’ surely resonates with this film as well, and that’s why I offered him this project. I believe that Noda-san’s music, which colours the emotions beyond words, will illuminate the future of everyone who watches it.”
