Japan’s underground rappers are releasing fire Drake diss tracks

Japan’s underground rappers are taking the chance to swing at Drake in their own diss tracks which have gained millions of listens online, courtesy of Metro Boomin.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you’ve heard about the on-going beef between two of the biggest rappers in the industry, Compton’s Kendrick Lamar and Canada’s Drake. With both dropping huge diss-tracks aimed at one another’s careers, personal lives and criminal allegations, millions of listeners have been debating who’s winning this all-out brawl of words.

Capitalising on the moment to unleash their biting verses against Drake, both rappers and beatmakers Kamui and Bank swiftly released their own tracks. Kamui’s amassed over 2 million listens on X (Twitter), while Bank’s garnered a staggering 16 million listens.

Kamui calls out Drake for his lack of presence in Japan and emphasizes the importance of integrity in diss tracks. Using Drake’s line from the track ‘Push Ups’, “I’m out in Tokyo because I’m big in Japan”, as ammunition, Kamui slams Drake for never performing in Japan unlike Kendrick. Adding fuel to the fire, the Nagoya born MC, used a screenshot of a Google Maps listing for Drake’s fashion brand OVO’s now permanently closed Tokyo store.

Meanwhile, Bank takes a more introspective approach, reflecting on his own values within the rap game. He expresses apathy towards Drake’s music and confronts the challenges of maintaining authenticity amidst the allure of success.

Both rappers served their verses over a track by award winning Missouri producer Metro Boomin, who has been a key player in this ongoing feud. The track itself, named ‘BBL DRIZZY’, serves as a Drake diss mocking his alleged cosmetic surgery. It was released as part of his “BBL Drizzy Beat Giveaway”, where whoever delivers the best verse would receive a free beat from Boomin. His extensive collaboration history includes working with hip-hop heavyweights such as Future, the Weeknd, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, and many others.

In the midst of this rap battle royale, Japan’s underground scene proves its mettle, delivering blistering tracks that refuse to pull punches. As the feud continues to escalate, the world watches eagerly to see who will emerge victorious in this lyrical showdown.
