BiS original lineup reunite for 'You've been cheated' Tokyo live event

BiS original lineup reunite for ‘You’ve been cheated’ Tokyo live event

The original BiS lineup, pioneers of the alt-idol movement, reunite for ‘You’ve been cheated’ on July 8th at Cine City Plaza in Kabukicho, Tokyo. This free event marks a decade since their disbandment in 2014.

Formed in 2010 under the leadership of Pour Lui and WACK CEO Junnosuke Watanabe, first generation BiS quickly gained fame for their unconventional approach, leaving a lasting impact on the idol music scene. The reunion will include the final members from the group’s original run: Pour Lui, Hirano Nozomi, First Summer Uika, Tentenko, Kamiya Saki, and Coshoji Megumi.

TOWER RECORDS Shibuya will randomly distribute tickets for the free show from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the day of the performance, with entry based on ticket numbers.

BiS, short for Brand-new idol Society, was founded by Pour Lui in 2010 to challenge traditional idol norms. Alongside Lui, the original lineup also included Nakayama Yukiko, Rina Yokoyama, and Hirano Nozomi. They debuted with the indie single ‘Taiyou no Jumon’ and released their self-titled first album in March 2011.

BiS gained attention for their controversial approach, notably the music video for ‘My Ixxx’, featuring members seemingly nude, which led to Rina Yokoyama’s departure. Despite this, the group continued to innovate, with ‘nerve’ becoming their signature song.

In 2012, BiS signed with major label Avex Trax, adding new members Michibayashi Rio and Wakisaka Yurika. They released their first major single, ‘PPCC’, and starred in the horror film ‘Idol Is Dead’. Successes aside, the group still faced challenges such as Wakisaka Yurika’s graduation due to a marathon injury.

Significant lineup changes occurred in 2013 with new members First Summer Uika, Tentenko, and Kamiya Saki joining. Their single ‘DiE’ marked a commercial breakthrough, debuting at #6 on the Oricon charts. BiS continued to break conventions with left-field collaborations, including one with the noise band Hijokaidan, and a 24-hour live performance.

In January 2014, BiS announced their disbandment date as July 8th. They released their final album, ‘WHO KiLLED IDOL?’, in March, followed by their last single, ‘FiNAL DANCE / nerve’, in April. Their farewell concert at Yokohama Arena included 48 songs and appearances by former members, marking the end of an influential era in the idol world.
