CHANMINA produced talent competition ‘No No Girls’ begins airing

‘No No Girls’, the talent audition series produced by CHANMINA and BMSG, has begun airing via YouTube.

The series started life as an idea from BMSG founder SKY-HI after deciding the company should include female talent. He noted in an interview that he thought CHANMINA was the perfect person to help find talented women to become the next BMSG stars:

“I wanted to see a girl group led by CHANMINA. It wouldn’t matter how long I looked around the world, it just has to be CHANMINA.”

On the name, CHANMINA said that she wanted the auditions to be open to all girls; everyone who’s been told “no” through their life, by themselves or others, like she was. Age, height, weight, and background don’t matter. These girls will become “No No Girls”. In a message to participants, she stated:

“You’ve been through countless nos. To you who’s been rejected forever, to you who’s torn and declared ‘no’ to yourself. Even if you have the faintest feeling of ‘Maybe I should give this a try’, please come to me.”

She then said “I also don’t care if you come to me with ‘Nobody has ever said ‘no’ to me!'” with a laugh. Additionally, the “No” in the title has a double meaning. CHANMINA says these stand for the “3 nos”; no fake, no laze, and no hate. Participants should strive to be real, work hard, and not hate themselves.

Auditions began earlier this year, with BMSG‘s mantra of “Being Myself” and “not killing talent” at the forefront. More than 7,000 applications from all over the world poured in, and the judges narrowed them down to just 30. The series’ first episode shares many of their stories, with heartfelt moments between the judges and contestants.

The final judging event, ‘No No Girls THE FINAL’, takes place on January 11th, 2025, at K Arena in Yokohama. The remaining contestants will deliver their final performances in front of a live audience, before BMSG announce the final line-up for their first girl group. The show’s official website will provide further details, including ticket information, closer to the event.

Notably, CHANMINA has been working through her pregnancy following her marriage to South Korean rapper ASH ISLAND. Her latest music video for ‘NG’, the theme song for ‘No No Girls’, showed off her pregnancy bump, shocking and stunning viewers.

The first two episodes of ‘No No Girls’ are now available to watch for free on YouTube, with English subtitles. New episodes will be uploaded weekly on Fridays at 8pm (JST).
